Here’s how to sync development and business without drama and burnout.

Context

I’m an engineer with experience in Golang, Postgres, and team management. Over years as team lead and technical manager, I’ve developed principles that keep development and business aligned.

This isn’t theory. This is what works in real projects.

The Communication Problem

Two Different Languages

Business says:

  • “Need it faster”
  • “More conversions”
  • “Improve UX”
  • “Should be done yesterday”

Engineers hear:

  • “How many tickets?”
  • “Which metrics?”
  • “What specifically to do?”
  • “Unrealistic deadlines”

Result: Misunderstanding, conflicts, project failures.

Technical Manager’s Role

You’re a translator between worlds. Your job:

  • Understand business goals
  • Translate into technical tasks

Principle 1: Listen and Translate
